If you wish to play a PAL
or NTSC DVD from any part of the world other then North America you
will require what is known as a code free dvd player.
In order to work properly the unit must have a built in NTSC PAL
converter. Most Multi-region players do not and therefore you cannot
play a PAL dvd on your NTSC TV without a expensive converter.
We only see code-free dvd players which have quality built in
NTSC PAL converters. You must also look for the ability to manually
switch regions. RCE is a system which stops DVD's from being played
outside the assigned region. Many units claim to be RCE proof but the
ultimate protection is simply to have the option to manually change
region settings if RCE invents better software. Don't be fooled into
wasting your money on a $99 multiregion player and expect to
get a quality picture, you will simply get multi region dvd player
that gives you garbage video.
