Panasonic has introduced the DMR-T2020, a DVD-R / DVD-RAM video
DVD recorder that
allows professionals unprecedented versatility in incorporating
DVD capabilities into their video production system.
The
Panasonic DMR-T2020 can record real-time, broadcast-quality MPEG-2 digital
video onto a removable DVD-R or DVD-RAM discs. Once recorded, the
video is instantly accessible and ready to view without having to
search, rewind or fast forward. The recorder allows users to easily
navigate, edit scenes and create custom play lists of digital content
on a DVD disc. The Panasonic DMRT2020 supports a super-fast data transfer
rate of up to 22 Mbps and enables simultaneous recording and playback
- an industry first in a DVD recorder.
The
Panasonic DMR-T2020 allows users to make repeated recordings onto DVD-RAM
discs and one-time-only recordings onto DVD-R (4.7GB/DVD-R for General
Ver.2.0) discs. DVD-RAM offers in excess of 100,000-write/rewrite
cycles. DVD-R General discs can be played back by most of the conventional
DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM drives.
"With
its vast storage capacity, incredible speed, random access memory,
and writing/rewriting capability, the Panasonic DMR-T2020 is an ideal
product when you need to record over and over again or to add additional
content to the disc," said Yas Hirose, Product Manager, Panasonic
Broadcast. "The corporate and education video applications
for the Panasonic DMRT2020 are boundless."
The
Panasonic DMR-T2020 combines DVD-Video capability with the ease of VCR operation.
The recorder is equipped with a high-quality Real-Time Variable
Bit Rate (VBR) MPEG-2 Encoder. Thanks to the unit's time base corrector,
3-D Y/C separation and 3-D digital noise reduction (DNR) circuitry,
transferred video is capable of having better picture quality than
the analog original.
The
Panasonic DMR-T2020 offers four recording modes with record times of one,
two, four, and six hours on a 4.7 GB DVD-R or DVD-RAM discs.
The record time double when using double-sided DVD-RAM media. Users
can play DVD-R discs in the DVD-RAM or DVD-ROM drives of their laptop
or desktop PC, making sharing discs with colleagues easy.
In
addition to recording new video content, the Panasonic DMR-T2020 allows users
to transfer existing videotape recordings to space-saving DVD discs.
High-quality digital copies of originally created video content
can be used for an array of applications: weddings, education, events,
training, sports, video kiosks, product demonstrations and entertainment.
Video libraries can be archived, preserved, and easily catalogued
and accessed. The recorder is playback-compatible with CD-Audio,
