Pioneer is clearly heard with a new speaker line-up
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today offers consumers more ways to enjoy the in-vehicle listening experience with its new line of TS-A Series Speakers and Champion Series Subwoofers. Pioneer’s 2011 TS-A speakers feature innovative technology like a carbon graphite IMPP Interlaced Aramid Fiber woofer cones, soft dome midranges, and wave guide arrays to achieve an open and smooth sound. The 2011 Champion Subwoofers feature a new IMPP Composite Seamless Cone and Dual-layer Elastic Polymer Surround for deep, powerful and controlled bass.
“It’s critical to have high quality speakers to get the best experience from the music you listen to – whether it’s at home or in the car. Pioneer’s speaker engineers go to great lengths to design our speakers so they work optimally in the automotive environment, yet remain true to the original recording and maximize the listening enjoyment.” said Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for the car electronics department, sales and marketing division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
TS-A Series Speakers
Pioneer’s TS-A speakers are available in five sizes: 5-1/4”, 6-1/2”, 4” x 6”, 6” x 8” and 6” x 9” to fit most vehicle applications. Each speaker is designed to provide listeners with an optimum musical experience no matter what type of music is playing. The low distortion carbon graphite IMPP Interlaced Aramid Fiber cones are extremely strong and durable, necessary for powerful bass output. The cone’s high-density internal architecture can handle high power and reduce unwanted flexing, which results in rich, linear sound.
The speakers also include a soft dome diaphragm midrange driver utilizing a wave guide enclosure. The design enables mid and high frequencies to be projected in a uniform and wide dispersion pattern, resulting in a smooth on- and off-axis response.
Other features of the TS-A speakers include:
Light Weight Elastic Polymer Surround
New Grill Design
Low Frequency Crossover (TS-A1304C, TS-A1604C, TS-A6994R, TS-A6984R, TS-A1684R, TS-A1674R)
17% larger woofer cone piston area, while maintaining the same universal-fit 6-1/2 inch basket size (TS-A1604C, TS-A1684R)
The TS-A speaker line-up is comprised of the following models and starts at a suggested price of $80;
TS-A1304C (5-1/2” component set), TS-A1604C (6-1/2” component set), TS-A6994R (6” x 9” 5-Way Coaxial), TS-A6984R (6” x 9” 4-Way Coaxial), TS-A6974 (6” x 9” 3-Way Coaxial), TS-A1684R (6-1/2” 4-Way Coaxial), TS-A1674R (6-1/2” 3-Way Coaxial), TS-A1374R (5-1/4” 3-Way Coaxial), TS-A6874 (6” x 8” 3-Way Coaxial) and TS-A4674 (4” x 6” 3-Way Coaxial)
Champion Subwoofers
Pioneer’s new Champion series subwoofers, TS-W259D4, TS-W259S4, TS-W309D4 and TS-W309S4 redesigned for 2011 with increased sound output, providing more bass at all volume levels. Available in 10- and 12-inch models, the subwoofers feature a larger seamless IMPP composite cone with a 14 percent larger surface area than the previous generation. The larger cone is able to move more air at higher sound pressure levels without flexing or “buckling”, which can create distortion.
The newly developed cone is further reinforced by a new Dual-layer Elastic Polymer Surround that is light and flexible yet dramatically durable, resulting in a subwoofer that can reliably move significant amounts of air with ease.
Internal components of the subwoofer were also improved by using a four-layer copper voice coil with an aluminum former which improves heat dissipation for higher input power handling and increased reliability. Additionally, air vents in the metal basket construction below the spider were incorporated to help further cool the voice coil. As the speaker cone travels up and down, air moves through the vents to help dissipate heat from the voice coil.
The series will be offered in single or dual voice coils giving consumers more flexibility in their installation configurations. The dual 4 Ohm versions can be configured for 2 or 8 Ohm wiring with the speaker terminals located on one side of the speakers.
The Champion series subwoofers will be available in January for a suggested retail price of $110 and $100 for the 10-inch TS-W259D4 and TS-W259S4 and $130 and $120 for the 12-inch TS-W309D4 and TS-W309S4.
