The flagship H79 is part of Optoma’s Custom Series line, which offers the best

hand-selected to deliver amazing quality and provide the most vivid,
clear and immersive digital experience possible. With Texas
Instrument’s DarkChip3 DLP technology, the H79 delivers a wider and smoother color palette with virtually no dithering, as well as incredibly rich images that won’t fade or degrade over time. The Optoma H79 home theater projector is ideal for the most discerning
of home theater enthusiast.
What is the DarkChip 3?
DarkChip 3 is a recent improvement on the
DarkChip line of DLP chips from Texas Instruments. It features a black
coating on the DLP hinge structure and other internal parts.
Essentially, anything that’s not a mirror is coated with a light
absorbing material that
reduces light spill. This significantly improves the black level
performance of DLP projectors, like the Optoma H79, which use these
chips. A lower black level means a higher contrast ratio, and improved
picture quality.
