FEATURES - Panasonic th50px20u/p plasma display
HDTV/EDTV Display Capability
(1080i, 480p) (Non native HD , 480 P Native)
Experience images with lifelike detail and clarity when viewing
HDTV broadcasts (1080i) and progressive scan DVD players (480p)
16:9 Aspect Ratio
Widescreen TVs feature a width-to-height ratio similar to movie
theater screens, providing cinema-style entertainment at home.
Also enables full-screen viewing of high-definition broadcasts and
DVDs produced in 16:9 format.
Progressive Scan
Displays a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second by
de-interlacing the incoming video signal and progressively
scanning the image. With it, you generally don't see the
horizontal scan lines that are often visible in ordinary
television images.
Contrast Ratio up to 4000:1
A high contrast ratio provides deep blacks and bright whites,
helping to improve overall image depth and realism.
1536 Shades of Gradation
Plasma displays can suffer from an artifact called "false
contouring", where transitions between different shades of the
same color are too sharp. These transitions can appear as distinct
lines between the different shades of color. Having 1536 shades of
gradation helps minimize the false contouring artifact so color
transitions take on a smooth, natural appearance.
New Real Black Drive System
An improved Real Black Drive System enhances image clarity and
realism — helping select plasma displays reach their stunning
4000:1 contrast ratio.
DVI-HDCP Interface
Used by newer HDTV set-top boxes and DVD players, the DVI-HDCP
connection allows the transmission of uncompressed, copy-protected
digital content to your high definition display with stunning
image fidelity and clarity.
The DVI/HDTV input terminal complies with the EIA-861 Profiles
standard for transmission of uncompressed digital video, including
high bandwidth digital content protection. The DVI/HDCP input can
be connected to an EIA/CEA 861 compliant consumer electronic
device, such as a set top box or DVD player equipped with a DVI
output connection. It is not intended for use with a personal
computer. The DVI/HDCP input is designed for best performance with
HDTV signals, such as 1080i or 720p picture signals. The DVI/HDCP
input will also accept and display 480i and 480p picture signals.
Anti-Reflection Screen Coating
Helps minimize screen reflections so ambient light in the room
doesn’t interfere with your enjoyment of the image.
Over 1 Billion Colors
The more colors a display is capable of rendering, the more
accurately it can reflect the program material. Select plasma TVs
can display an amazing 1,070,000,000 colors.
Mach Band Effect Enhancer
The appearance of an object, as perceived by the human eye, is
influenced by the colors of the objects surrounding it. This is
known as the Mach Band Effect. Panasonic Plasma TVs feature an
M.B.E enhancer, which utilizes the principals of this theory to
enhance the brightness of objects on the screen, helping improve
sharpness and a vivid picture.
Gamma Enhancement System
Adds subtle nuance to dark scenes and gives images greater depth
by increasing the number of gradation shades at low brightness
levels. It employs non-linear signal processing to reproduce
images that help accommodate the high sensitivity of the human
eye. Additionally, the system features the Panasonic Plasma AI
function, which analyzes scenes and automatically adjusts peak
brightness according to the brightness of the images.
Progressive Cinema Scan (3/2 Pulldown)
Achieves exceptionally faithful movie reproduction through a
sophisticated analog-to-digital conversion. Movies on film are
converted to NTSC interlaced video (480i) for television by a
process known as telecine conversion, in which the 24
frame-per-second film is converted to video at 60 fields per
second. The fields are then paired to create 30-frame-per-second
480i video. Some of the frames will contain dissimilar pairs of
fields derived from two different frames of the original film,
which causes artifacts. Our Progressive Cinema Scan circuitry
converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of
the film for a more authentic movie reproduction.
BBE® ViVA HD3D Sound
This new surround sound system creates an authentic and exciting
3D enhancement effect from the stereo speakers while preserving
the clarity and definition for which BBE High-Definition Sound is
noted. BBE ViVA offers exceptional sound stage imaging, helping to
ensure optimal clarity for centrally staged audio material such as
dialogue.
Integrated NTSC Tuner
The built-in NTSC tuner lets you receive over-the-air analog
broadcasts with an external antenna.
Included Pedestal Stand
Plasma TVs come with a pedestal stand, providing you with a
convenient way to watch images on a platform that looks just as
good as the TV itself.
