Mitsubishi Digital Electronic America Announces MH2850U Projector With DICOM Simulation Mode for Medical Training

Projector has Low Overall Cost of Ownership for Medical Education Applications

IRVINE, Calif., December 2, 2008 — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division, known for award-winning, high-quality presentation and display products,
has introduced the MH2850U, its newest SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 pixels) resolution high brightness LCD projector offering both Clearbase and Bluebase DICOM® (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) simulation. These two modes offer accurate detail and great color depth for intensely detailed images required in X-ray graphics as well as CAT scans, MRIs and other medical imaging applications.

Mitsubishi’s MH2850U projector is specially engineered for projecting DICOM simulation images for use in medical education and training. The projector integrates predefined Clearbase and Bluebase presets for enlarging X-Ray images with amazing clarity. It is also designed to support a flexible array of optional lenses for easy set up in various room sizes and environments in medical school classrooms and hospital conference rooms.

“The MH2850U is the ideal projection solution for medical schools that require affordable projectors for high-resolution images with detail and clarity,” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Product Division. “And with optional lenses, this portable projector can be easily set up in small briefing rooms or larger classrooms.”

Low Cost of Ownership
Mitsubishi’s MH2850U is very affordable compared to other projectors in the same category. It features inorganic LCD technology that extends the typical service life of the projector display panels, making them more durable and providing a more color-consistent, even-toned image than previous generation organic LCD panels. Its efficient, side-loading lamp design helps control
overall lamp temperature, achieving an estimated 5000-hour lamp life (in low mode), along with quick and convenient lamp replacement. This combination makes a dramatic reduction in total cost of ownership, reducing overall operating maintenance time and lamp replacement costs.

The MH2850U blasts 3100 ANSI lumens for a bright, clear image even in high-ambient light settings such as large classrooms or meeting rooms with windows. Network management is easy with RJ45 connectivity for LAN asset management control and its RS232c connection makes it simple to integrate with third-party control systems. It also operates at an ultra-hushed 29dBA noise level in low mode and includes a robust anti-theft security hook to deter theft or any unapproved removal.

Suggested Pricing, Availability, Limited Warranty
The new MH2850U is offered at a suggested retail price of $9,995 and is available from Mitsubishi’s professional dealer network. The projector carries Mitsubishi’s award-winning three-year limited warranty on parts and labor and its exclusive three-year Express Replacement Assistance program.

“Our customers in higher education, especially medical schools, require the most precise imaging technology in this demanding market. Great detail, clarity and color performance is never to be compromised in medical training and education,” said James Chan, senior director product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. “And in today’s economy, a good initial purchase price plus the low cost of ownership makes this projector even more attractive for med schools with budget constraints.”
