Christie Projectors At The Heart Of Brazilian Holiday Spectacular In San Paulo
CYPRESS, CA - (January 8, 2009) - Christie projectors played a key role in Brazil’s spectacular Luzes de Sao Paulo (Lights of Sao Paulo) from December 12-28, as important buildings in the city were turned into big screens displaying HD multimedia images of urban and Christmas themes. Inspired by the monumental festival of lights, which attracts some four million tourists annually to Lyons, France, the Luzes de Sao Paulo marked the first show of its kind in the Americas.
The installation reunited Christie with ON Projecoes (www.onprojecoes.com), the largest audio/visual solutions provider in South America and a Christie dealer. Earlier this year, Christie partnered with ON Projecoes to create a huge display of artistic imagery on a 100-foot diameter Ferris wheel, situated on Rio de Janeiro’s famous Copacabana Beach.
“Christie provided Luzes de Sao Paulo with the brightest and most compact projectors in Latin America,” says Tieres Tavares, ON Projecoes sales/marketing manager for Miami. “The people of Sao Paulo saw stunning images projected on the city’s iconic buildings from 8pm until midnight – it was amazing.” The project was designed and led by Mix Brand Experience in a joint venture with Iluminite. “We brought cutting-edge technology to perform a show of monumental proportions," remarks Marco Scabia,
managing partner in Mix Brand Experience.
One of the main attractions of Luzes de Sao Paulo was the Federal Justice Building, adjacent to the Modern Art Museum of Sao Paulo (MASP). Three Christie Roadie 25K LE projectors, featuring DLP® techology, displayed a Christmas story on the Justice Building as well as masterpieces from the museum’s collection, shown in motion with special effects. The venue enjoyed extended hours (until 3am) with soundtracks and illuminations of red reflections emphasizing the building’s architecture. The venue was re-dressed for New Year’s Eve with fireworks-themed projections.
Three Christie CP2000-XB projectors were deployed at the Matarazzo Building in a tribute to the immigrants who helped build the city. With a native resolution of 2K (2048x1080 pixels) and DLP Cinema® technology, the Christie CP2000-XB is fully digital, driving the highest image quality for large-scale projects.
