Sharp introduces high performance DLP® projectors with BRILLIANTCOLOR™ technology at InfoComm

Vibrant color reproduction, exceptional compatibility and reliability make PG-F317X, PG-F312X, PG-F262X and PG-F212X ideal for corporate and educational applications

LAS VEGAS, NV, June 18, 2008 -- At InfoComm 2008, Sharp is expanding its projector suite with the introduction of its newest DLP® projectors with BrilliantColor™ Technology. Ideal for classrooms and boardrooms, the new Sharp DLP Projectors (PG-F317X, PG-F312X, PG-F262X and PG-F212X) provide enhanced colors and enriched imaging that bring presentations to life and accommodate a wide array of video and audio inputs for an extremely versatile presentation experience.

“Even the best presentation can lose some of its effect if the images aren’t of the highest quality,” said Bruce Pollack, associate director of marketing, Professional Display Division, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “Our new DLP projectors with BrilliantColor Technology capitalize on our extensive experience in the projector market, accommodate the newest standards, and even provide some brand new design features. They are extremely powerful and versatile and yet very easy for anyone to use.”

Advanced Imaging Capabilities
To enhance dark scenes and provide crisp text and graphics, the DLP optical system and Sharp optical technology work together to create a 2200:1 contrast ratio. The new models also feature high brightness (3000 ANSI lumens on the PG-F317X and PG-F312X, 2600 ANSI lumens on the PF-F262X, and 2300 ANSI lumens on the PG-F212X) for a clear picture in virtually any lighting conditions. DLP chip technology ensures that every picture is displayed in a seamless, finely detailed manner. A DVI input terminal enables virtually noise-free images from digital sources. The terminal also complies with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to support digital video content in high-definition. High-speed on/off switching also helps deliver smooth full-motion video.

Intuitive Design and Ease of Use
These Sharp DLP projectors employ a smart front exhaust design that exhausts potentially damaging hot air from the projector and away from meeting participants sitting to the side or behind the projector, eliminating excess noise and distracting hot air.

Each of these projectors employs a 3x color wheel with six color segments including yellow and cyan, added to red, green, blue and white, providing high-accuracy image reproduction. The color wheel uses an ultra-quiet cooling fan to reduce distracting fan noise to an almost unnoticeable 29dB. DLP projector owners also enjoy lower cost of ownership and longer projector lifespan thanks to the DLP sealed system that limits dust, dirt and smoke from entering core parts of the optics.

These Sharp DLP projectors start up in approximately three seconds. Direct Power Off lets users unplug and move the projector while controlling the power for multiple projectors simultaneously by using the room’s primary power switch in conjunction with the auto restart function. Each projector includes an intuitive Setup Guide to demonstrate features interactively, including focus, zoom and height adjustment. These DLP projectors also include interactive help menus that display commonly occurring problems, as well as built-in closed caption with black and white text for easy readability.

Extensive Connectivity
These Sharp DLP projectors afford a wide array of inputs and outputs for use in connecting to DVD players, cable and satellite boxes, laptop and desktop computers, HDTV tuners, VCRs and video game consoles. DVI-I and D-sub terminals (in/out) are also provided.

The PG-F317X model adds a built-in network connection with a RJ-45 LAN Connector for remote control and access by a Web browser for diagnostics and automatic e-mail of product status.

The projectors are backed by a two-year parts and labor limited warranty including two years of Sharp’s industry-leading 24-hour turnaround “ER” Express Repair support. The warranty on the user-replaceable projection lamp is 90 days.
